Aug 31, 2009: 30-second Commercial Winners Announced!
Newark Film Festival
A series of 24 30-second commercials ran between the festival’s movies from Sept. 10–17 at Cinema Center 3 in Newark and Sept. 25–27 at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington. Audience members voted for their favorites.
The most popular ad was for 1-800-PACKRAT, a company that cleans up and sorts stuff in your house. Pahl Hluchan of Wilmington produced the spot. Courtyard by Marriott in Newark took second place and was produced by Charlie Bailey of Landenberg, PA. Finishing third was the ad for Louviers, a Newark federal credit union, created by Greg Truono.
In addition, 3 ads received honorable mention: Soffritto Italian Grill, produced by Ric Edevane, who serves as head of the Delaware Independent Filmmakers; Bloom boutique’s artistic ad by Scott Shaw; and Newark Mayor Vance Funk’s message in support of Downtown Newark, which was produced by Loki Productions.
Two “Hammie” awards were presented for acting: Rick Jensen, the WDEL talk radio host, and Tim Carr, local actor and filmmaker.
“Businesses can use their ads with their websites, on Facebook, or send them to prospects,” Schlecker says. “With today’s technology, advertisements have quite an impact even if they’re not on TV.”
